At The Joshua Tree, we were excited to complete a memorable and technically demanding removal of a Sequoia (Redwood) a couple of months ago – with an incredible 99% of the timber successfully recycled.
Sadly, this majestic tree was in rapid decline and posed a significant risk due to its location – positioned beside a new-build property and in close proximity to an electrical substation. Removal was the only responsible and safe option.
Once we made the initial lower cuts, the extent of internal rot became evident. It confirmed that a structural failure could have caused serious damage at any moment – making our timely intervention crucial.
Working within a very confined space, we used precision rigging and a Tree Runner system to safely lower each section. This level of challenge is exactly what makes our work so rewarding.
After the removal, a skilled friend of ours came in to plank the timber. The slabs were so substantial it took four people to move each one! These are now being transformed into stunning furniture – tables, benches, and more.
We also brought in a Hiab trailer on-site to assist with lifting and transporting the smaller sections, which are now being milled at our yard.
This was truly a standout project – and an absolute pleasure to undertake. If you’re looking for expert tree care with thoughtful recycling and a passion for quality, The Joshua Tree is here to help.
